Generally, after a new ceramic kiln is built, it needs to go through a warming-up process for debugging purposes. This document provides a brief technical introduction to the warming-up process for reference by industry peers.
1. Before warming up, a thorough inspection of the kiln is necessary. The inspection should cover: a. Kiln body; b. Fan and pipe system; c. Roller drive system; d. Burner and control points; e. Measuring instruments and their accessories.
2. Develop a reasonable heating curve based on the kiln's structural characteristics. For a new roller kiln, the baking time is generally 10-15 days: Temperature Range (°C) Room temperature~300 300 insulation 300~500 500~600 600 insulation Required Time (days) 2~3 0.5 2~2.5 1~2 0.5 Temperature Range (°C) 600~900 900~1100 1100~Final firing temperature Required Time (days) 2~3 1~2 1~2
3. Ignition steps: Start with the last group of lower spray guns near the cooling zone, increasing at a rate of two groups per day until the kiln temperature exceeds 1000℃. In short, the low-temperature baking time should be extended as much as possible.
4. Precautions: a. Kiln body heating and baking will cause volume expansion, so regular checks of all parts through observation holes are necessary. If cracks or falling ceiling bricks are found, timely solutions should be implemented, such as insulation or slowing down the heating rate. b. The preheating zone often heats up faster during baking and is difficult to cool down. To prevent excessive temperature rise at the kiln head leading to the detachment of the kiln top insulation material, attention should be paid to the heating situation, and the smoke and air fans, wind valves, and the height of the preheating zone fireproof plate should be adjusted accordingly. c. During the baking process, the cooling zone temperature is often difficult to rise, failing to meet the requirements of the firing curve, which may cause product cracking during trial production. Therefore, when products are first produced during baking, appropriate speed and spacing between products should be considered. d. The number of damper adjustments for each equipment should not be excessive, and the amount of change for each valve opening should not be too large, ensuring a stable airflow speed and moderate temperature changes in the kiln.
